Newark Youth Screen Printing & Research Scholarship

Launched in Spring 2024, Fruishun Press Studio offered a 2-month long research opportunity and an engaging pop-up screen printing workshop designed for Newark teens to explore and visually express their communities through the power of printable art.

The Newark Youth Screen Printing & Research Scholarship was an unique opportunity for teens to immerse themselves in creativity and discovery at the Newark Public Library. Through guided exploration of the library's archives, participants delved into the stories of local change makers, musicians, artists, and activists who had shaped Newark's vibrant culture. Using these inspirations, teens synthesized their findings into screen printable artwork at Fruishun Press Studio, capturing the essence of Newark.
